3 Issues Why Your Cloud Voice Isn’t Performing

Ashley NathanOverlay Networking, SD-WAN
Cloud Voice

You’ve made the investment to migrate to a Hosted PBX or UCaaS solution but the results aren’t what you expected? The promise of increased employee production and collaboration has fallen short, and the cloud migration may actually be giving you a cloud migraine.

The way we work has changed. Employees are no longer sitting behind a desk from 9am to 5pm – they are mobile. They are using multiple channels such as text, voice, email and video to communicate with each other and with customers. So your investment in cloud communications to improve productivity makes sense, but only if it works as you expected.

With all the advances in modern technology, your employees expect an easy to use and seamless solution that enables them to get their jobs done. When something as “basic” as your business communications service starts causing problems such as dropped calls or delayed video conferencing, the employees turn to the IT department to fix the problem.

Before you go and start pointing fingers at your Cloud Voice Service Provider, consider that 80% of Cloud Voice quality issues are caused by problems with the underlying network connectivity. The three most common causes are Connection, Contention, and Congestion.

Connection

People often get so focused on the bandwidth speed that they forget the ask the simple question, “what happens when my internet connection goes down?” Internet access can be fast and cheap, but it’s not always reliable especially in remote areas. When your business relies on a hosted voice service in the cloud, you need to be connected before you can make a call and that connection must stay strong throughout the duration of the call.

The Solution

VINO has built in failover and redundancy features. What does this mean? When one of your network connections goes down we keep your cloud-based voice service going.  Your call continues uninterrupted along with all your other cloud applications, so your employees won’t experience any productivity losses and your bottom line won’t suffer.

Contention

Think of your network as a 2-lane highway.  When you’re running a handful of applications things might be going smoothly.  However, when many employees are using several applications at the same time all of sudden you have hit rush hour traffic and no one is getting anywhere quickly.  Your network is competing for resources and your cloud voice service might not be getting the attention it needs to perform.

The Solution

Our VINO product will act as your traffic cop ensuring your Hosted PBX solution is running smoothly in the fast lane with no interruptions. VINO intelligently manages your Network Contention based on priority rules that ensure smooth sailing for all cloud voice calls.

Congestion

When your network carries more data than it can handle and you start to experience quality of service issues, this is probably due to Network Congestion. When your connections get over saturated, they just don’t work properly. It might creep up on you over time or occur during peak hours of your business. Symptoms of Network Congestion might include disrupted or inaudible voice calls, and poor video conferencing or slow application response times.

The Solution

You can fight Network Congestion with TELoIP’s VINO Solution which monitors and protects your network from getting over-saturated with data before problems arise.  VINO dynamically reserves bandwidth for voice, and will detect and respond in near real-time to ensure your cloud voice service performs the way it’s suppose to.

VINO is the simple solution that automatically addresses the 3 most common causes that break down performance for Hosted PBX and UCaaS services. If you are interested in learning more about TELoIP’s VINO Solution we would love to hear from you!
