Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ana Technology?

Ana (Autonomous Network Aggregation) is a new, patent-pending networking technology developed by TELoIP. First deployed in 2002, it is a unique technology that helps companies answer the questions “what happens if my Internet goes down?” and “when will I be able to get my network costs under control?” Ana™ combines Internet connections from any number of ISPs to create a fast and reliable scalable network that survives network disruptions and outages.

How does Ana help me?

Increased Bandwidth: Ana helps companies get more bandwidth to meet their telecommunications requirements today, and tomorrow. Going to the Cloud (for example) means greater strain on networks as data is constantly being pushed to and pulled from the Internet. Ana helps companies affordably scale to meet these new demands.

Increased Network Reliability: Using Ana technology to create a multi-ISP network means companies shield themselves from network disruptions. Ana eliminates single points of failure in networks; no longer are companies bound by the up-time of a single ISP or a single connection. Ana helps companies achieve reliability SLAs affordably using combinations of ISP connections.

Improved Application Quality: Ana provides Quality of Service on all involved connections. The system detects poor line conditions and the throughput thresholds of each connection. Ana re-routs the data as necessary based on the QoS commitment and the line conditions.

How does Ana Work?

The Ana technology creates a powerful customer LAN by aggregating the customer’s network connections. Essentially, a connection from one ISP is blended with a connection from another ISP to deliver a faster, single connection to the customer site. The bandwidth of the aggregated connections is added up to deliver greater upload and download speeds. The new, powerful Ana-enabled network will expand and contract as needed to accommodate usage, as well as account for any disruptions in the connections.

How does Ana control Internet uptime?

Ana technology sits at two locations. The customer premise equipment (CPE) is installed at the customer site where multiple incoming ISP connections terminate. The CPE is configured according to your applications profile and Quality of Service requirements. Data originating from the customer site is distributed via the diverse physical connections according to the Ana intelligence, observing the line-conditions and QoS.

Data departing the customer site travels across multiple paths and is reassembled at another device that sits in one of our many Points-of-Presence. This device is actually made up of high-availability clusters of concentrators and are located throughout North America.

Do I need to buy two devices?

No. Ana works to optimize your network even if you’re a single-site location. Our network of peering-concentrators (located throughout North America) will be used to aggregate your data and provide the seamless failover your business requires. By having a network of these peering concentrators, we limit packet travel-time, which makes the system ideal for latency-phobic applications like VoIP.
